Letter-Carved Proverb

Wooden wall hanging featuring Welsh proverb carved into a rustic board. The panel is a single board riven from a Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) log. Carved in low relief, the saying rises above the ground area and is further highlighted by the stain that was applied to the recessed areas of the panel. This recessed area has an understated texture from the broad gouges used there. There is a keyhole hanger set into the back of the panel for convenience when placing it on a wall. The entire board has had multiple coats of tung oil applied to enhance the wood grain and color, while also being low sheen in keeping with the style of the piece. This has been crafted entirely by hand.
